Dual 1009F Auto/Professional Turntable

This is a Dual Model 1009F Auto/Professional Turntable manufactured in the late 1960's. It is mounted on a United Audio wooden base. This idler wheel turntable can operate in a single-play mode with automatic start or with automatic start with cue control. It can also operate as an automatic record changer with up to 10 records stacked. The turntable has three standard speeds: 33 1/3, 45, and 78 rpm. Each of the three speeds can be varied over a 6% range with the verniew Pitch-Control. This feature is able to change pitch by more than a half note. A strobe disk to check speed is provided with the turntable.

The turntable is equipped with a unique provision for controlling power (up to 3 amps) to an audio amplifier so that the audio system can be swiched on and off automatically by the turnable.

The turnable is supplied with a special gauge that when snapped onto the phono cartridge holder will indicate the correct stylus depth for the cartrige when mounted in the holder. After balancing the tonearm is balanced, the stylus force is simply dialed in. The direct-reading dial is accurate to within 0.1 gram. The tonearm can track to 1/2 gram. The tonearm also has a tracking-balance control, the force applied is simply dialed in using the same value as used for the stylus force.

Below is a picture from the turntable owners manual showing the controls on the turntable.

I have the single-play short spindle, Elevator-Action spindle (for changer opration), all of the cartridge mounting screws, spacers, wedges, gauge, single-play 45-record adapter, strobe disk, and manual that came with the turntable. Unfortunatley, the plastic dust cover that came with the turntable got broken over time. I purchased a nylon dust cover from Digital Deck to keep dust off the turntable when not in use.

Acquired new by me in the late 1960's along with my Fisher 550T receiver, this turntable came with a Pickering XV-15 micro magnetic phono cartridge installed shown below.

Later, I changed it out for an Empire 1000 ZE/X phono cartridge shown below installed in the tonearm.

Below is a picture of the turntable with the platter removed. To remove the platter, a wire clip surrounding the center spindle receptacle must be removed.
