1960's Grundig Model RTV 380U

<

This is a 1960's Model RTV 380 AM, FM Stereo, and shortwave receiver made by Grundig. It is all solid state. It has 4 bands:
AM/MW
SW1 covering 3.5 to 8.5 MHz
SW2 covering 8.5 to 22 MHz
FM covering 88 to 108 MHz

The radio is somewhat unusual in that the dial reads from right to left (the lower numbers are on the right). There are 5 presets for only the FM band on the left of the receiver along with a signal strength indicator and stereo indicator lamp. The receiver also has external inputs for a phonograph and tape recorder/player. The unit has a built-in FM antenna but an external FM antenna with the unusual plug (shown below) can be used. An AM/SW long wire antenna with a similar unusual plug can also be used. The speakers also have unusual plugs.

This receiver works well after I replaced the FM and AM/SW front end transistors that were damaged apparently due to a nearby lightning strike. One of the coils in the stereo demodulator circuit had an open winding that resulted in no stereo separation. After I fixed the coil, the stereo separation is good.

I also have 8 matching speakers. I use 2 for this receiver and I use the others for other purposes. Below is a picture of the receiver with two of the speakers.
