1940's Zenith Model 6D312
This is a Zenith Model 6D312 and receives Standard Broadcast AM only. This
radio has the distinctive "beehive" style and is highly sought after.
The radio has 5 pushbuttons to the right of the dial. The top four are station
presets and the bottom one is for dial tuning. This radio has a ballast tube
for reducing the line voltage to a value suitable for the filaments.
The ballast tube, which is actually a resistor, get extremely hot. Some other
versions of this radio use a transformer instead of the ballast tube.
I had to fabricate a replacement pushbutton for one that was missing.
The replacement button is the top one. This radio works well.
